Sara Cohan believes that conflict-free and eco-friendly jewelry is more enjoyable to wear. In this spirit, she is working towards only using sustainable and ethically sourced materials in her work, displays and packaging. Cohan strives to only buy materials from suppliers that engage in ethical and environmentally appropriate practices.

“All the metals I use are recycled and not mined. My packaging is made from recycled materials. As an Armenian American, much of what I do in life is influenced by the history of my people. I have dedicated much of my time over the past fifteen years to advocating for the remembrance and recognition of the Armenian Genocide during which most of my family was murdered by the Ottoman Turks.”

Cohan has always been drawn to silver and after her first trip to Armenia in 2010, she craved the knowledge of how to create jewelry like Armenians have done for nearly 5,000 years.

“A few years ago, I took the plunge. I bought a torch and never looked back.”
