From Alfred Sharp’s woodworking shop snuggled next to his blue house shrouded by large holly trees, he creates wonderful pieces of art. His work exhibits his talent and creativity and decades of dedication to woodworking. Sharp is a master of high and low relief carving, inlay, marquetry, and French polishing.

Sharp has over thirty years in the studio furniture field, and has completed fine commissions for a number of historical homes and museums. He is also a board member of several related arts institutions and is well respected inside the ranks of the furniture-making community, as well as among designers, curators, and collectors nationwide. His work is not restricted to any styles or patterns, and he often works from drawings, photos, patterns or original design.

His work has been featured in Colonial Homes magazine, Southern Living magazine, the book Architecture of the Old South , Fine Woodworking magazine, Woodwork magazine, the book The Tennessee Sampler, Historic Preservation magazine, Furniture Studio 3 and other publications.

A graduate of Vanderbilt University, Sharp has been recognized and awarded for his woodworking skills and has also taught at the O’More College of Art and Design along with the Marc Adams School of Woodworking and the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship.
