Glass by Glass studios is a bi-coastal glassblowing Mobile Hotshop Extravaganza. Glass by Glass is based out of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Los Angeles, California. Johnny Glass, CEO and founder of Glass by Glass, has made it his mission to bring a new awareness and interest back to the art of glass he loves so much. He has designed and constructed all of his own studio equipment to be completely mobile.
In addition to being a producer of finely handcrafted glass works of art, Glass by Glass can bring a full glassblowing studio and have it operational and in your facility in less than 12 hours. In addition to blowing your own glass office parties and live glass blowing demos, Glass by Glass has the capability of teaching a well-rounded intro and advanced glass blowing education in your facility,not only in hot blown glass, but torch/lampworking,as well.
Johnny Glass (yes, that is his real name) began his glass career in Los Angeles, CA, where he was first introduced to glass at Santa Monica College. He has spent multiple summers studying at Dale Chihuly’s world renowned Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, WA, where he studied with master glass blowers from around the world. His interests range from fine Italian cane work to the abstract arts of some of Japan’s most crafted masters. Glass by Glass grew quickly from a hobby to Johnny’s full time job. By 2009, Glass by Glass had taken on its first two employees and started traveling the west coast art show markets, with great success.
In 2012, Johnny decided to expand his market and returned to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he grew up, to open Glass by Glass’ east coast mobile hotshop and to finish his education at Tennessee Techs Appalachian Center for Crafts, underworld famous glassblower and teacher, Curtis Brock. He is currently in his senior year and will graduate next spring with a BFA in Glass. 2015 was a big year for his new east coast branch. Johnny gave over 60 days of live demo’s throughout the east Tennessee area from Gatlinburg to Lenoir City. Johnny has shown the live art of glass blowing to well over 60,000 people this year and been featured on many local TV news shows.
