I find that I enjoy making a quality product that is functional for use in the home. Reclaimed vintage items make handsome, one-of-a-kind functional art. My first art business was making picture frames with leftover exotic leather from a western boot maker. Ralph Lauren was one of my retail outlets then. From that point I started collecting horse hames and horse-related tack and leather. These items were found in barns and tack rooms; these things were outdated or no longer being used. I made my first horse hame chair with these reclaimed items. I made over seventy chairs to date. After thirty years of working with materials that have come to define my life as an artist, I continue to make chairs and tables out of horse hames and antique objects.
