Homegrown Textiles from the Cumberland Plateau
I began this textile journey on the front porches of the rural South, learning to hand stitch from my mother and a small group of women who were like grandmothers to me. It continued in the classroom, where I learned about the overwhelming amount of pollution the fashion industry creates each season, as it works tirelessly to crank out garments made from irresponsible materials in deplorable working conditions. As I completed my degree in Apparel Design, my focus became finding a way to follow my passion while avoiding further harm to the environment.I believe that we are here to make a difference. I believe that it is important to see where our clothes come from, and to provide a glimpse into the world of farming, hard work, and living in harmony with Mother Nature.
